Coolify is a self-hosted platform that does roughly what Vercel did for these projects. A merge on GitHub triggers a build on the server: a Dockerfile, a Compose file or an automatic build pack, depending on the app. The new container replaces the old one only once it is healthy, so a broken build never takes a site down.

It also runs the scheduled jobs (nightly retention, catalogue crawls, Canvas refreshes) and the database backups.

Decisions

  • Everything runs in one Coolify instance, including the client site, which sits in its own project with its own database so it can be handed over.

What it replaced

  • Vercel hosting
  • Vercel Cron
  • Vercel preview deployments
