Occupation Is Organized in Space

How occupation is organised across the West Bank, mapped from 56 places.

Built from fieldwork in April 2025. Photographs, observations and maps show blockade, closures, settlement, permits and demolitions as one connected system, not as separate incidents.

Only processed, watermarked images are published. The original captures stay private.

01Fieldwork

In April 2025 I took part in a human rights documentation mission across the West Bank and documented 56 locations. The mission’s results were submitted to the office of the UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories, and the work continues with established human rights organisations.

The atlas is the public part of it. It connects photographs, structured observations, maps and notes, so a single image can be read as part of a wider geography: closures, settlements, permits and demolitions as one system.

02Rights and privacy

Every published image has a caption, a creator and rights record, a sensitivity review and, where a person could be identified, a consent status. Published copies are stripped of location metadata. No frame is generated, extended or restaged, and the original captures stay private.
